ABOUT IRAQI REFUGEE STORIES
Jennifer Utz (www.jennyjo.com) is a videojournalist who has been covering the Iraqi refugee crisis since the fall of 2006. She was one of the first US-based journalists to highlight the extent of the crisis. Her first report aired on Democracy Now in February 2007. Subsequent reports aired on ABC World News Tonight, France 24, and Current TV.

HIBA'S STORY

Hiba and her family fled Iraq in 2003, shortly after the war began. Their family of seven was not allowed to enter Jordan, so they spent four years living in a tent in Ruwayshed, a refugee camp on the border of Iraq and Jordan.

HIND'S STORY

In Amman, Jordan, members of Hind’s family must keep constant vigil over her. Inconsolable after the kidnapping and brutal killing of her father in Baghdad, Hind has suffered severe psychological problems, even attempting suicide. “When I lost my dad...I lost my future.”

KAREEM'S STORY

Kareem is a history professor who was seriously injured when American forces bombed the University where he was working in Mosul. This interview was conducted at the Red Crescent Hospital in Amman, Jordan.
